1. Cookies and similar technologies
A cookie is a small value that a website can ask a browser to store and send with later requests. LocalStorage is different: it holds information within the browser for scripts on the same website to read. Privacy rules may cover both technologies, so this policy explains the storage actually used rather than treating the word “cookie” narrowly.
The supplied site sets no HTTP cookies and loads no third-party trackers. It stores a privacy choice locally and can remember an optional larger article-text setting. These values are not automatically transmitted to a server. Hosting infrastructure added during deployment may behave differently and must be assessed by the actual operator.
2. Storage inventory
The table lists all browser storage deliberately created by this build. The analytics row is included to make clear that the category is absent, not merely waiting for consent. The same origin can read localStorage across these pages, but unrelated websites cannot ordinarily read it.
| Category / name | Purpose | Lifetime | Control |
|---|---|---|---|
Essentialsvv-consent-v1 | LocalStorage record of your choice, optional-setting permission and expiry time. No unique visitor identifier. | 180 days; expiry checked on page load. | Created when you make a choice. Remove through browser site-data settings. |
| Analytics None | No page-view measurement, analytics cookies or visitor profiling. | Not applicable. | Nothing is activated by accepting. |
Functionalsvv-reading-v1 | LocalStorage record enabling larger text in article and policy content. | Up to 180 days, tied to the saved choice. | Optional; removed when rejected or switched off. |
3. What each choice does
Accept All saves your decision and enables the optional larger article-text setting. It does not install analytics, advertisements or additional software. Reject Non-Essential saves your decision while removing the optional setting and restoring standard article text. Both choices leave the guides fully available.
Preferences opens a panel where you can switch the functional setting on or off before saving. Cancelling the panel does not change an existing choice. Use the “Cookie preferences” button in any page footer to revisit your decision. Updating a choice starts a new 180-day period. If storage is blocked, the choice works for the current page but may not persist when you navigate.
4. Browser opt-out and removal
You can remove all site data independently of our controls. Browser menu names vary by version, but the following routes are common. Search settings for “site data” if your browser uses different wording.
- Chrome: open Settings, Privacy and security, then site-data or third-party-cookie settings. Find this domain in stored site data and delete its entry.
- Firefox: open Settings, Privacy & Security, then Cookies and Site Data. Choose Manage Data, select this domain and remove it.
- Safari on macOS: open Settings, Privacy, then Manage Website Data. Select this domain and remove its data.
- Edge: open Settings and search for cookies or site data. Open the stored-site-data list and delete this domain’s entry.
Private browsing generally limits persistence, but behaviour depends on the browser. Clearing only browsing history may not remove localStorage. Deleting this site’s data makes the choice banner appear again. Blocking all browser storage does not prevent reading the site.
5. Changes and questions
There is no sale or sharing of information for advertising in this build, so browser advertising opt-out signals do not need to disable an additional tracking system. A future analytics or embedded-service integration would require a revised inventory and appropriate controls before activation. Business details elsewhere on the site are illustrative, not verified operator information. For questions, use [email protected] and read the privacy policy for broader data-handling limitations.
